I know the question is pretty simple and the answer is pretty cut-and-dry in Ep.III, but you have to wonder... Was it just as simple as wanof his wanting to save Padme and the memory of trying ting to save Padme's life, or was there something else driving Anakin on?
Personally, I think it was a combination of wanting to save Padme and the memory of his trying (and failing) to save his mother that drove Anakin to the Dark Side. Not to mention Darth Sidious had basically been poisoning his mind for 13+ years.
